The Chinese used pig’s hair to make the first toothbrushes about 500 years ago. Luckily for pigs, nylon brushes came along in the 1930s!

Blue Whale is the largest animal in the world. Adult blue whales can measure up to 30.5m from head to tail and weigh as much as 150 cars!

Fishes, like the eels, are able to swim backwards. The pectoral fins help to sweep itself backwards.

Seawater is unsuitable for drinking as it contains about seventy times more salt than our bodies can safely absorb. When a person consumes that amount of salt, water from all parts of his body moves to dilute it. As a result, the body becomes dehydrated. Eventually, the kidneys, being incapable of processing the salt, shut down and lead to death.

Stars that ‘fall’ from the sky are called shooting stars or meteoroids. These meteoroids are interplanetary bodies entering the Earth’s atmosphere. The beautiful luminous phenomenon we see is the effect of the meteoroid traveling at high velocity into the Earth’s atmosphere.

Many moths use the Moon to help them find their way at night, by keeping the Moon on one side of them, they can make sure they are going in a straight line. Bright lights and flames confuse moths, because they mistake them for the Moon.

Bad breath is caused by bacteria, which inhabit in our mouths. These "stink factories" feast on left over food particles, expelling volatile sulphur compounds responsible for bad breath. Brushing and flossing remove the bacterial "stink factories" from our teeth and gums but these unwelcome guests have another perfect hiding place - your TONGUE.

The lips are covered with skin on the outside and with slippery mucous membranes on the inside of the mouth. The major lip muscle, called the orbicularis oris gives the lips mobility. The reddish tint of the lips comes from underlying blood vessels.
